A story about a Mouse and a Cookie...

Zeke was getting bored one day while Eli was as school so we decided to make some sunshine like what was finally shining out side. I traced on of Zekes hands on a piece of paper and then stacked some other yellow papers behind it. This made cutting out the hands a lot quicker.
After I cut them out Ezekiel made sure they looked good.
I cut out a circle for the base of the sun.
Then Zeke when to work gluing on  the hand prints to his circle.

All finished! Zeke's cute little sunshine!
Okay on to that Mouse and Cookie... We are probably all familiar with the book "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and there are also a lot of other spin offs to go along with it.
We have a few of the books but there are a lot of other fun ones we are missing.
The first activity we did was based on the book "The Best Mouse Cookie"

We made cookies!
I took one of my dry mixes and we worked together mixing in the rest of the ingredients.

I cracked the eggs into a jar so it was easier for Zeke to add in. Eli added in the oil and vanilla in.
 Time to mix!

While our cookies were baking I cut out some pieces for the boys to make some paper mouse's and cookies
 Zeke putting together his mouse.
 Eli working on his
Now adding the chips to their cookies.
Then they just felt like cutting for a little bit.
Their finished Mice and Cookies we put popcicle stick onto so they could paly with them...they lasted a little while before getting destroyed...oh well!
The next activity was from the book "If you give a Dog a Donut"
There is a part in the story where the dog wants to build a kite so we decorated some kits of our own.

Trucks Galore!

If you have boys you probably have a ton of trucks and truck books. And you have probably stepped on a sharp little truck in the middle of the night to but that is not related to this post at all! So I decided to put some of the truck books and toys to extra use. We read a few of these truck books and then moved on to some experiments and crafts.
The first experiment we did was called "Clean Mud" It is simply made with baking soda and water! Super easy. Just fill a bowl with some baking soda. Then slowly add water to the powder until you get a nice mud consistancy.
Zeke helps add in the water.
 Mixing it up.
 Here is our muddy {un}mess
And of course it is only fun if you have trucks and a construction site to use it at!

Next we found a bunch of different trucks and turned them tire side up.
Then we took at close look at the tires and the different treds that they had.
 We love trucks!
Eli checking out some of the different style tires. We talked about sizes and we counted how many tired the different trucks had.
Next I put some different color paints onto a plate and let the boys drive the tractors though the paint and then drive across their paper.
We had some tires that were not on any trucks and we used them as stamppers.
They filled up their first pages and wanted to do another sheet.
 Making tracks
This was a huge success of a craft for the boys.

The Good Humor Man

We need a little bit of Spring and Summer in our day today so I busted out "The Good Humor Man." This book has been around for quite a while. It was actually one of my books from when I was little and its one of the boys favorites to read during the summer.
One of the first things I did for this book was take the tubes of GoGurt yogurt and a cookie sheet. Then I snipped a corner on the tube and ...

...placed little drops onto the cookie sheet.
 Doesn't that look cool!
Then pop those babies in the freezer until they are nice and solid. Then take a spatula and pop them right off the sheet and into a bowl to enjoy later on. These are kind of like dippin' dots!
Next the boys and I made our own popcicles with our tupperware popcicle molds.
We filled them with some green juice that we had in the fridge.
and into the freezer they went. We also had a lemonade one and a strawberry yogurt one in the freezer.

For a snack I pulled out come ice cream waffle cones from the pantry and wanted to fill them with something fun but the best I could come up with was marshmellows which the boys love anyways.
They were so excited when they seen them!

 Eli munching away
 Ezekiel checking his out.
Putting the paper wrapper from the cone onto his head.
We also did a couple of crafts which I forgot to get 'in action' pictures of...oh well! Here we made ice cream cones with our naes on them and stacked them up. This is great of learning letters and colors.
We also made popcicles! I just cut out the shapes for both crafts ahead of time and let them do the gluing. The popcicles we also added some glitter to and then glued popcicle sticks to the backs.
