Grandparent Update

Things seem to be going well. Grandpa had his biopsy on wen. and they dertermine it is a lymphoma cancer. im not sure if it is spelled right or not. The doctors are confused though because rarely ever see this type in the brain. It is also non removable which means the only way to get rid of it or at least try would be with meds or kemo. The surgery also left Grandpas left side paralyzed. However we got a call on saturday that he was moving his foot which is a great sign. He was depressed after the surgery because he doesnt want to live the rest of his life in a wheelchair. His brother did for the last 14 years of his life and Grandpa doent want that. But since he moved his foot his spirits and attitude has increased greatly and he is excited about the progress he is making. Also his platelet (sp?) count in his blood is really low. A normal persons is 300 they want grandpas to be at least 100 before he leaves the hospital but his is only at a 4 count. They gave him a platelet transfusion last night i believe. Grandma is still doing great. Thanks for all the prayers!

Hey everyone, Grandpa made it through the biopsy alright, and he was moving his hand as he was coming out of the anastetic which is good. Grandma is home now and doing good. Family keeps an eye on her. I guess my cousin Kirk who is working in New Mexico might not be able to make it home for Christmas and he has been sort of home sick since he went down there. My cousin Danny who is stationed in Kansas with the army is supposed to come home for christmas as well as my cousin Cassondra and her Husband Dan who is in the army stationed in GA. and their daughter Savannah. I guess Savannah isnt walking yet. She is about a year and a half old. She is pigioned toed I guess you would call it. So she might have to wear braces on her legs to straighten out her feet so she can start walking. She also has a bad kidney that eventually will have to be removed.

Update on the Blaauw Grandparents:

We went up to the hosiptal today to see Grandma and Grandpa. Both seem to be doing good. Grandma gets to go home tomorrow (monday) but will have to show that she can be more active that what she has been without her blood pressure going up. Grandpa's testing will be done on Wendesday. They are going to drill a hole in the top of his head and remove a piece of the tumor so they can test it. At this point the tumor is causing some weakness and he is unable to walk without falling over. He called himself ''top heavy'' because his legs are not strong enough. He is pretty optimistic about everything so that is good.
